Various sites have been posting Top Albums and/or Top Songs of 2009. This has inspired me to generate a series of posts. Over the next few days and weeks I will be posting on these “Best of 2009”. Look for posts on the following:
My Top 10 Songs of 2009
Can I pick my favorite 10 songs from 2009?
My Top 10 Albums of 2009
How about my favorite 10 new albums of 2009?
Pitchforks Top 100 Tracks of 2009
I have started listening to this list and I will give my top picks for the list.
Pitchfork’s Top 50 Albums of 2009
This one is a bit more ambitious, but will provide for lots of content. I will attempt to listen to each album and post my review.
Keep posted for these posts. The first should come fairly shortly. Do you have another list I should listen to?
The last few weeks I’ve been diving into some of my older music. I’ve been listening to the likes of Jesus & Mary Chain, Pixies, The Magnetic Fields, Carter USM, Butterfly Child, and various others. I was listening to All My Little Words by The Magnetic Fields and I remembered a video I came across a couple months ago on youtube.
Painfully Mainstream - Tom Milsom http://www.tommilsom.com
This is an amazing cover only made better by the use of the Game Boy. The cover lead me to check out to Milsom’s other stuff. He’s a young artist from London, UK. I’m currently checking out his new album, Painfully Mainstream. You can give it a listen here.
I’ve always struggled with the idea of blogging. I think this really stems from the fact that I don’t really have anything I feel like saying for anyone and everyone to hear. Most of the blogs I follow seem to have a theme and write articles of some substance. Writing has never really been my strong suit, so I have been hesitant to write longer posts. Lately, I’ve been thinking of what sorts of things I can post about.
This week I have come to some decisions. I’m going to post about any random thing I feel like mentioning. My blog isn’t here to impress anyone or to be a source of inspiration or information. I tend to update my FB status frequently, so why don’t I make this blog a more detailed version of the randomness that is my life on Facebook. So I will likely start posting more about music, websites, food, and other things that are part of my daily life.
