My Top 10 Songs of 2009

This was much harder than I thought it would be.  Trying to narrow down a list of the 10 best songs from 2009 turned out to be much more difficult than I thought.  Part of the difficulty was because much of my favorite music that  I listened to this year was released before 2009. I may have taken some liberties with the list because of that. There were some awesome songs from 2008 that I would really like to include in this list, but I will try to refrain.

Busy Start To 2010

I had planned to be more active about posting this year.   However,  when I went back to work on Jan. 4 things got super busy. I’m hoping I can get back on track and start doing more frequent posts in the coming weeks. I still need to get back to my reviewing the top 50 albums, that will take much longer than I planed.  I started listening to some of the albums at work and the music kind of drifts into the background while I work.  I may have to find a way to invest some actual time to focus on listening to give my reviews.  We will see what happens…

Top 50 Albums of 2009 – A Musical Journey

I’m back in the office today and I’ve decided to starting working my way through Pitchfork’s The Top 50 Albums of 2009. After a quick glance at the albums on the list I see many that I have heard and many that I won’t enjoy listening to.

My plan to is to listen to each album and write a post about it.  On some days I may feel ambitious and post about multiple albums.  Other days I may not post about any.

Top 100 Tracks of 2009

A couple of weeks ago Pitchfork published their “Top 100 Tracks of 2009“. I have finally gotten around to building a playlist to listen to the list and see what new gems I can find. I was happy to see a larger number of artists I was familiar with… whether I liked them or not.

I have  gone through the list it a few times as I often get distracted and don’t really listen to some of the songs.  Here are a few that pop out as my favorites, a couple of which are new to me.

Here is the entire Top 100 in a grooveshark playlist.
